Unsere Fremdsprachenassistentin

Hello!
I am Alyson Coombes, the new language assistant at Ratsgymnasium Peine. I come from England. My hometown is called Farnham (a small town in the south of England) but I live in Egham where I study French and German at Royal Holloway. It is part of the University of London and is about 30km to the west of London. I will be at Ratsgymnasium Peine until February. I have now been here about 3 weeks and am having a great time!

I have been working with students from years 5,7,8,9 and 12 and have found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming. I am very impressed by the high standard of English spoken by the students, and by how hard everyone works. I have already learnt a lot about modern America and about slavery in the 1800s, as well as many new German words!

I really enjoy learning German, although the grammar is quite difficult. It is very interesting living in Germany and discovering Peine and Braunschweig. Niedersachsen is a beautiful place. I am very happy to be working in such a lively and successful school, and look forward to working with many students over the next 5 months. Thank you to everyone who has helped to make my first few weeks here so happy!

Ich bin Alyson Coombes, die neue Fremdsprachenassistentin am Ratsgymnasium Peine. Ich komme aus England. Meine Heimatstadt heißt Farnham (eine kleine Stadt in Südengland), aber ich wohne in Egham, wo ich Französisch und Deutsch an der Royal Holloway Universität lerne. Royal Holloway gehört zur ‚University of London' und liegt 30km westlich von London. Ich arbeite in Peine bis Februar.

Ich bin schon seit 3 Wochen da, und finde es sehr toll hier! Ich habe mit Schülerinnen und Schülern in vielen Klassen gearbeitet, und sie sind alle sehr freundlich. Ich bin beeindruckt vom guten Englisch und den fleißigen Schülerinnen und Schülern. Ich habe viel über die USA und die Sklaverei um 17. Jahrhundert gelernt, und viele neue deutsche Wörter!

Ich lerne gerne Deutsch, obwohl die Grammatik ziemlich kompliziert ist. Ich interessiere mich für das Leben in Deutschland, und Peine und Braunschweig gefallen mir. Niedersachsen ist sehr schön. Ich bin sehr glücklich, in so einer lebendigen und erfolgreichen Schule zu sein, und ich freue mich auf die nächsten 5 Monate. Ich möchte allen danken, die mir in meinen ersten Wochen bisher geholfen haben.
